The History of the Ķemeri Resort

Ķemeri is a gem that has attracted travelers for centuries with its sulphur springs and healing mud. As early as the beginning of the 19th century, people came here to improve their health, and in 1838 the resort was officially opened. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Ķemeri was connected by direct railway lines to Moscow and Saint Petersburg, and a special tram line from the resort to the beach created a charming old-fashioned holiday atmosphere.

During the tour, you will hear fascinating legends about the miraculous sulphur springs and have the chance not only to listen but also to try the healing water, known for its therapeutic properties. Visit the once-popular 1930s restaurant "Jautrais Ods" ("The Merry Mosquito") and experience the spirit of the past, explore the Orthodox church, which — according to legend — was built without a single nail, and see the famous "Ķemeri" hotel, which holds stories from generations of visitors.

Ķemeri is not just a resort; it is a place where history and nature merge into a unique atmosphere that stays with you for a long time.
